Information about the trainings:
These trainings will be by and for Native people from throughout the Americas. We will be utilizing straw bale building methods to construct restroom buildings with composting toilets, rainwater catchment and solar energy and hosted at Squirrel Ridge Ceremonial Grounds in the Cherokee community of Kenwood, Oklahoma.
The training will be in Spanish, English, and Cherokee.
We will have cultural sharing activities in the evenings, and a Stomp Dance on August 9.
Meals will be provided free of charge, but lunch will be at the Kenwood Senior Nutrition Site and a donation is requested of $3-5 per meal per participant.
We are committed to making this training widely available to Native people who otherwise would not be able to gain these skills. As such, we are not charging a fee for the training. However, if you are able to contribute financially, even small donations are greatly appreciated to help offset the costs of feeding everyone and paying our instructors.
Other types of contributions are also greatly appreciated such as food, extra blankets, water, etc.
If contributing money, please make a check or money order out to:

We will be camping for the duration of the training, and have port-a-potties and solar showers available.
Kenwood will be very hot during this time of year, hot and humid, and we will be spending nearly all of our time outdoors. However, there is a creek nearby to take breaks and swim in. Please plan accordingly in your packing.
There are also motels available 30 and 45 minutes away in Salina and Locust Grove if camping doesn’t appeal to you. More information will be sent when we receive your application. Wado!
